Baccarat Standards

Baccarat banque is bet on with 8 decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards valued less than ten are worth face value and with 10, J, Q, K are zero, and Ace is one. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they simply represent the two hands to be dealt).

Two hands of 2 cards are then dealt to the ‘bank’ and ‘player’. The score for each hand is the sum total of the cards, although the 1st digit is ignored. e.g., a hand of five and 6 has a total of one (five plus 6 equals 11; ditch the first ‘one’).

A third card may be dealt depending on the rules below:

- If the gambler or banker gets a value of eight or nine, the two players stand.

- If the gambler has less than five, he hits. Players otherwise stand.

- If the player stands, the bank takes a card on a total lower than five. If the gambler hits, a guide is used to decide if the bank stays or takes a card.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the 2 totals wins. Winning bets on the house payout 19 to 20 (equal cash minus a 5 percent commission. Commission are recorded and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure you still have funds left just before you depart). Winning wagers on the player pay 1 to 1. Winning wagers for tie normally pays out at eight to one but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a bad wager as ties happen lower than one in every 10 hands. Be cautious of gambling on a tie. Although odds are substantially better for 9 to 1 versus 8:1)

Wagered on properly baccarat chemin de fer provides fairly good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Punto Banco Strategy

As with all games baccarat chemin de fer has a few established false impressions. One of which is close to a false impression in roulette. The past is not a prophecy of future outcomes. Keeping score of past outcomes on a chart is a waste of paper and a snub to the tree that was cut down for our stationary needs.

The most accepted and definitely the most acknowledged course of action is the one, three, two, six method. This plan is used to build up profits and minimizing risk.

Begin by wagering 1 unit. If you win, add another to the 2 on the game table for a grand total of three dollars on the second bet. If you succeed you will have 6 on the table, subtract four so you keep 2 on the 3rd bet. Should you come away with a win on the third round, put down 2 to the four on the table for a grand total of six on the fourth round.

Should you do not win on the initial round, you take a loss of one. A win on the first wager followed by a loss on the 2nd causes a loss of two. Wins on the initial two with a hit on the third provides you with a gain of two. And success on the 1st three with a hit on the 4th means you are even. Succeeding at all four bets leaves you with 12, a take of ten. This means you can squander the 2nd bet 5 times for each favorable streak of 4 wagers and still are even.
